Smart Ride Central Ohio Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about private airport transportation, reservations, pricing, flight tracking, luggage, service areas, and what to expect when riding with Smart Ride Central Ohio. Every confirmed ride is personally driven by owner Steve French.

Reservations and availability

How do I request a ride?

Use the airport transportation quote form or the other private transportation form. You will see the calculated price before submitting the request. Steve personally reviews every request before confirming it.

Is a submitted ride request automatically confirmed?

No. A submitted request is pending until Steve reviews the route, schedule, passenger needs, and vehicle capacity and then sends confirmation.

How far in advance should I reserve?

Request transportation as early as practical, especially for holidays, major events, early-morning departures, and busy travel periods. Online requests generally require at least 12 hours’ notice, and all requests remain subject to availability.

Can I schedule an early-morning airport pickup?

Yes. Early-morning airport rides can be scheduled in advance so the pickup time, route, and driver are reviewed before the travel date.

Airport pickups and flight tracking

What happens when my arriving flight is delayed?

Smart Ride monitors arrival flights and adjusts the planned airport pickup timing when flight information changes. Steve communicates directly with the traveler about the meeting location and updated timing.

Can Steve meet me inside baggage claim?

Yes. Baggage-claim meet-and-greet assistance is available at John Glenn Columbus International Airport when arranged. Steve can meet the traveler inside with a Smart Ride sign and assist with luggage.

Which airports does Smart Ride serve?

Smart Ride provides prearranged transportation to and from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK), and Central Ohio private aviation terminals.

Pricing, changes, and payments

Will I know the price before requesting the ride?

Yes. The booking application presents the calculated transportation price before the request is submitted. Special routes, added stops, waiting time, or unusual passenger requirements may require Steve to review the quote.

Does Smart Ride charge change or cancellation fees?

Smart Ride does not charge a separate fee to change or cancel a reservation. Advance notice is appreciated so the schedule can be updated promptly.

How can I pay?

Customers receive secure payment instructions for outstanding balances. Customer-portal users may also store a personal card and a work card securely through Stripe for future payments.

Passengers, luggage, and service area

How many passengers and bags can the vehicle carry?

The Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid can seat up to six passengers, but practical capacity depends on the number and size of bags, carry-ons, mobility equipment, and car seats. Include complete passenger and luggage details with the request.

Does Smart Ride provide senior and appointment transportation?

Yes. Patient, prearranged transportation may be available for appointments, family visits, errands, and events. Describe any walking assistance, mobility needs, or additional time required so Steve can confirm whether the trip can be accommodated safely.

What Central Ohio communities does Smart Ride serve?

Smart Ride serves Columbus, Powell, Dublin, Delaware, Hilliard, Lewis Center, Marysville, Marion, New Albany, Plain City, Westerville, Worthington, Upper Arlington, Grove City, Grandview Heights, and surrounding communities. See the complete Central Ohio service-area guide.
